When Milky Moments was published, Ellie Stoneley, the author, was overwhelmed by the kindness and warmth of the response from people to the book. One of the most moving things to happen was being given a hand made gift by a friend, the mother of one of her daughter’s friends. It was a beautiful handmade, needle felted figure made to look like Ellie nursing her daughter.
Ellie shared this gorgeous gift on the Milky Moments facebook page and was swamped by people asking where they could find one. So she spoke to her friend and we’re delighted to announce that these beautiful figures (handmade, with love, by Renata Stenczel in Cambridge) will now be uniquely available from the Milky Moments Books Shop. Each painstakingly felted figure takes hours to make.
We will in time offer a bespoke service to tailor make dolls with different hair colour and skin tones (which will be for sale at £35), but for the first few months, the Milky Moments celebration launch doll (every one will be different) is now available.
Materials used: natural wool, pipe cleaners. Some wool is plant dyed, certified organic bioland Merino wool which has fine fibres, or if specific colours are required Renata uses a blend of 50% pure wool and 50% mulberry silk.
The first Mama and Child figurine for sale was Poppy, she, and the other Mama and Infant figurines Renata is working on, was / are priced at £30 (plus £2.50 delivery in the UK). More unique and individual figures are on the way, every single one is different.

These dolls are ornamental, they are NOT a children’s toy, though children will get great pleasure from looking at them with an adult. Perhaps a gift for a nursing mother, or a mother who looks back fondly on her nursing journey…
